Dog biscuits need a consistent shape, bake, and bite.

Demand is growing for pet food, which puts pressure on process control and costs. Our role is to bring together machinery and method so that dough handling, baking, and cooling run predictably at the speeds you need.

With Premier Forrester, every line is sized for throughput, footprint, utilities, and changeover windows, with headroom for future stock keeping units (SKUs).

Dog biscuit production process

A typical dog biscuit line starts with ingredient preparation and mixing to build a stable dough with the right water activity and fat distribution. The dough is sheeted or rotary moulded, then cut to uniform shapes for even baking.

Ovens run with controlled temperature and airflow to dry the centre without over-colouring the surface. Products cool in a staged transfer so that moisture equilibrates and texture sets, after which biscuits move to inspection and packing. Where shelf life targets are tight, lines include final moisture pull-down or holding steps before pack-off.

Dog biscuit production - need to know

  • Blockers and bottlenecks: Dough temperature drift and variable hydration often cause weight spread, cracking, or uneven colour. Tight control at mixing and forming reduces rework.
  • Product variations: Shapes, embossing, inclusions, or glaze steps may require different tooling and oven profiles, so recipe-led changeovers matter.
  • Batch size: Short production runs allow flexibility for seasonal or limited-edition products, but they increase unit cost. Longer runs reward stable recipes, well-planned cleaning, and predictable packing flow.
